WWI
During WWI, the Son in Service flag was created. It was also called the Mother's flag. For each son or spouse in service, a blue star was placed on a white rectangle, inside a larger red rectangle. These were proudly displayed in the windows of many families. In the event a family member was killed in action, a gold star was placed over the blue star. This tradition was continued with WWII and can still be found in some homes today.

We have a fairly extensive collection of WWI draft cards. All names will eventually be included on this page. If anyone is interested in obtaining a copy, please send an email to the web page administrator at marsteller1727@hotmail.com
