WWI

During WWI, the Son in Service flag was created. It was also called the Mother's flag. For each son or spouse in service, a blue star was placed on a white rectangle, inside a larger red rectangle.  These were proudly displayed in the windows of many families.  In the event a family member was killed in action, a gold star was placed over the blue star. This tradition was continued with WWII and can still be found in some homes today.

please note:  registration does not mean the individual actually served. We are only listing information provided to us or found through copies of WWI registration cards. If anyone has additional information on the military career of the individuals listed below, we would be happy to include this.

We have a fairly extensive collection of WWI draft cards. All names will eventually be included on this page. If anyone is interested in obtaining a copy, please send an email to the web page administrator at  marsteller1727@hotmail.com
